Key outputs recently produced by the Institute in various areas of research include:
- The National Programme for the Environmental Rehabilitation and Drinking Water Quality Improvement in the Dnipro Basin;
- The State Programme for the Environmental Rehabilitation of the Siversky Donets River Basin;
- The development of regional system for industrial waste management in Ukraine;
- Radiation monitoring and early warning system for the Nuclear Power Plant Sites in Zaporizhzhia and Rivne, and their surrounding areas;
- The conceptual design of the State Register of Nature Reserves and Protected Sites of Ukraine;
- Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis for the Dnipro River Basin and the development of Strategic Action Plan;
- A suite of measures on the improvement of wastewater collection/treatment services in the municipalities of Ukraine (pursuant to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 754 of 29.04.99, this represents a priority area of research and development);
- The Action Programme on Environment Protection, Sustainable Use of Natural Resources and Environmental Safety in Kharkiv Oblast that takes full account of regional environmental priorities;
- The Integrated Programme on the Improvement of Sanitary and Epidemiological Situation in Kharkiv.
The Institute provides a broad range of research and consultancy services to the governmental ministries, industries, and scientific organisations. An important service provided by USRIEP is the preparation of an Environmental Impact Assessment of any proposed project/activity in accordance with the existing environmental laws and regulations of Ukraine.
